NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS

Another successful Bu Bumble was held on Sunday 14th April in Peterborough, Lisa Strong who organised the Bumble, ‘said the weather was fantastic and the ground was solid considering all the recent rain. The group was smaller than usual as some people on holiday and others could not make it for various reasons, but it did mean talking to everyone while keeping an eye on the dogs was easier’, Lisa & Alex took Eris and Raven, Sue and Martin Camm had Teya, the Guillod -Rees family had Ruby and the honorary Buhund Razza ,Sue Parker also went along with another honorary Buhund Willow and Caroline and John took  Tia.  They walked for about 4.5km and were very pleased that the dogs all managed to leave the fisherman and their bait boxes alone, and did not swim after the ducks and swans.

Much further west on the same day Sarah Stonton took Ch Arnscroft In Di Ana Jack to another National Nosework Association Entry Trial, run by Worcester Dogs -Puppy & Dog Training which was held at a local primary school. Jack continued to be very successful winning another 3 badges just missing out on gaining one in the inside search, he only needs 5 more badges to be in the next level. I am sure it won’t be long.

Working & Pastoral Breeds Association of Wales Ch show was held the following weekend on Saturday 20th April on its usual venue the Royal Welsh Showground Builth Wells. The Buhund judge was Debbie Stansbury who gives CCs in 9 Working Breeds and 9 Pastoral Breeds. The breed was in Hall 3 Ring 11 with four breeds in front of them but that was only 23 dogs, some breeds only having 1 entered. I guess the location and recent bad weather had put some people off entering. There were 4 mixed classes Puppy, Junior,Limit and Open. BP BD & BOB was Marie Corin and Adam Camm Mazads Nom De Plume (Dexter) bred by Marie and Adam he was born on the 27th of May 2023, and this was his first Ch show. RBD was Dexter’s sire Marie and Adam’s Kligenthal Almuric (Bergen). Having two in the dog challenge meant Marie’s mum Jill had to handle Dexter, she had not been in the ring for about 30yrs but had obviously not forgotten what to do, beating her daughter with Dexter beating his dad! BB Kerry and Fritz Frost, Addrienne Frost Treadwell and Jacqui Walmsley’s Trelowen Amelia at Frostisen (Bunny)handled by Jacqui. RBB Anne Marie Taylor, Mary and Dave Taylor and Addreinne Frost Treadwell’s Frostisen Blakk Zitter (Penny)handled by Anne Marie. Later in the day Bunny was third in KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme Stakes also under Debbie Stansbury winning a very respectable £15.

The following day it was Bergen’s turn, he was BOB & G4 at the Pontypool & District Canine Society Open Show held at the Pontypool Active Living Centre, Pontypool, the judge was Mrs S Ader who gives CCs in Border Collies. Marie lives in London, so it was a very successful two-day trip to Wales.

The same day but in Devon saw Jacqui with Bunny and Anne Marie with Penny attending the 325 class Plymouth and District Canine Society Open Show, held at The Grange Northlew Road, Okehampton. There were two classes PG & Open judged by Delphine Richards who gives CCs in 6 Working Breeds. Bunny was BOB and 10th in the Open Stakes under Rachel Barney winning a beautiful pink rosette. Penny was RBOB and 2nd in AV Pastoral Open also under Delphine Richards.

Stay safe everyone.
