NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS
Pastoral Day at City of Birmingham was the Saturday, I was not far away at an agility show, my usual activity now I do not have a dog to show. Half way through the morning my phone rang and a very thrilled Anne Smith told me that her Arnscroft Never Say Di, Oskar to his friends had won his first CC. Then I had a text to say he was also awarded BOB, but it was not to end there, later in the day the phone went again and this time it was Jacqui Walmsley to say very excitedly, that Oskar had had been awarded G4. The breed judge was Jane Lilley awarding CCs in the breed for the first time but she gives CCs in 41 breeds across the 7 groups. RDCC his 8th was Oskar’s older brother Shirley and Alf Dobson Sue Cale and Nancy Evans Ch & Ir Ch Arnscroft Di To Be A Sailor Ir J Ch he also has 19 CCs and is Top Dog in the breed at the moment ,in the competition with has been taken over by ‘Our Dogs’ from defunct ‘DW’. The Group judge was Mr Pinto Teixeira from Lisbon in Portugal. He was approved to judge by the Portuguese KC and FCI in 1975 and became an all-breed judge in 1985. He has judged in 65 countries on five continents and at some 700 dog shows. The highlights of which have been judging at 12 world shows and the ‘Contest of Champions’ in 11 countries. There is a lovely photo of Anne & Oskar with Pinto Teixeira in this week’s ‘Our Dogs’
Anne said it was a fantastic day and she wanted special thanks to go to Jenny Shorer-Wheeler & Jacqui Walmsley for staying to support her first time in a group. She has been a club member for many years but had never shown a dog before until she had Kimura Tyra At Arnscroft, whom she learnt to show with the help of Di Stirling. This year Anne and Oskar had some ring practice by winning BIS at the club fun show and the KCIAF Companion Show .Sadly Jenny’s day did not go so well as she broke down on the M69 on the way to the show, she wants to thank Kimberly Jebson and Mark for stopping to take Becki and the dogs to the show and to Mark for running from the car park to get them in on time, as it was a 9am start .She said show people are wonderful as several others stopped to see if they could help .
The next day Celia and the evergreen Perry headed to Bath open show held on Bath Ch show’s own ground, the Three Shires Field Bannerdown where they had a fabulous day .Celia told me the show was laid out in the same way as the Ch show but the cars could be parked by the ring you were in. Perry was BOB AVNSC BPV and PG 1 under Mrs Duffin and RBIS and BVIS under Mr P Wilkinson. It was outside in the rain but Perry loved it, many congratulations what a fabulous result.
Also on the Sunday Sarah Stonton and Trelowen Andrea joined us at the agility show gaining two clear rounds, Lillian Rumsey also came to watch, I hope we persuaded her that Anya would like to take part!
I do not know whether you saw the post on FB from Karin Klouman of the Kyon Kennels. She has been through the heart-break of losing Kyon’s Tora Tyri after a caesarean leaving 8 puppies, the fantastic news is that all the puppies have been raised, a golden retriever Leah nursed the puppies for the first 4weeks of their lives having weaned her own puppies at 6weeks. Then Tyri’s sister Synne took over and nursed them until they were 6weeks after weaning her own puppies at 7weeks.A great outcome of what started as a very sad situation.
I finish with the sad news that Ailort Hidden Gem who was Perry’s sister and the 15yr old Fullani Fraena who was the dam of my Fullani Finnsmark and who belonged to the late Elisabeth Coleopy and who has spent the last years of her life in Scotland, have travelled over the Rainbow Bridge to join their friends that have gone before.
