Critiques:
I would like to thank the officers and committee of Windsor Ch show for inviting me to judge, after my previous appointment was cancelled due to the pandemic. It is not only my local Ch show but also my favourite one, with the lovely setting just below Windsor Castle. The National Anthem is always played each day to open the show. I also cannot thank the exhibitors enough for giving me such a lovely entry on a Thursday at Windsor, when they knew, they would have to contend with commuter traffic in the area and the M25, which seemed to be particularly bad on Thursday. It was really appreciated.
VD/B (2) 1 Norman’s Ch Arnscroft Delilah at Veekay. A delightful workmanlike 7yr old wheaten bitch in good coat & condition, she has a lovely feminine wedge head correct ear placement level topline which she kept on the move, well curled tail and set, compact body, very attentive to handler. For me I would like a fraction more length of neck and angulation in front but having said that she moved effortlessly round the ring and is a worthy Champion.
BV. 2 Hood’s Sturtmoor Eeza Geeza at Buhcafrey. A 7yr old wheaten male good head proportions with lovely dark eyes, correct ear set good length of neck leading into good shoulder placement and level top line, well curled tail and set, moderate angulation front and rear, moved well round the ring, unfortunately when standing in spite of his handlers best efforts he was determined to drop his tail which spoilt his outline.
PD (1)1 Dosson’s Lggatts Part Time Lover. Clear wheaten puppy, 8months old he has the most beautiful head but is just masculine enough, lovely dark eye correct head proportions, correct ear set, good length of neck into well laid shoulders, level top line, well set curled tail, correct medium angulation. Movement needs to tighten up, but this will come as he matures. Attentive to his handler but enjoyed himself in the ring which as it should be with a puppy.
BP. JD (1) 1 Corin & Camm’s Mazads Nom De Plume. Just out of puppy, he has a lot to like about him he has lovely dark eyes good wedge head although for me it is little too strong (mature) for his age. Compact strong body. Well set and curled tail. Moderate angulation front and rear, moved well around the ring but when standing he tends to turn his front feet out as his pastern are a fraction long.
PGD (1) 1 Langfords’ Frostisen Zeffer. Two yr old very pale wheaten, good wedge head with correct proportions lovely dark almond shaped eye, medium length of neck leading into compact body, with well curled tail and set. Good bone and substance, but still lightly built. Moved well around the ring but was a little wide in front coming and going but happy to award him the RDCC.
LD (1) 1 Hood, Stewart & Branchflower’s Draccus Diamond Day O’Buhcafrey 3yr old wheaten. Good wedge head with dark eye, good length of neck and level top line, well curled tail and set. Moved out well round the ring but was a little close behind coming and going, is a little long cast so not quite the compact dog I was looking for. I understand it was his first Ch show and he was not too keen on being gone over.
OD (2,1a) 1 Corin & Camm’s Kilgenthal Almuric. A well-balanced lightly built 4yr old wheaten. Lovely head although I would prefer a darker eye, neat ears, medium length of neck, level topline, good tail set and curl. Moderate angulation front and back, everything is medium with no exaggeration, moved freely round the ring. Very attentive to his handler Pleased to award him the CC, his third which gave him his crown.
PB (1) 1 Crocker’s Leggatts Superstition Litter sister to the dog puppy and many of same comments apply. She has a lovely feminine head the darkest of eye, moderately arched neck, level topline, short coupled well set tightly curled tail and moderate angulation front and back. Her movement is a little erratic at the moment but that will improve as she matures. Her brother is more mature, but I am sure both are ones to watch.
JB (2) 1 Leggatts Superstition. 2 Strong’s Draccuss I Have A Dream (ai) 14 month old black. Feminine wedge head, lovely dark eyes correct ear placement. Medium length of neck leading into a level top line with good tail set and curl. She has very neat feet. Is slightly longer cast than 1 and unfortunately, she is not always at one with her handler so does not have the effortless movement round the ring I was looking for, but I am sure they will get there as she is still young.
PGB (2) 1 Crocker’s Leggatts Voulez Vous 5yr old black. Feminine head with dark oval eyes, neat ears with correct placement. Nice length and arch of neck. compact body with level topline, good front and rear angulation. Good bone and neat feet and moved well round the ring. 2 Leggatts Superstition.
LB (3) 1 Crocker’s Leggatts Jive Talkin. 2 yr old wheaten and has the same dam as Superstition and for a minute I thought she was the same bitch, there are so many similarities, but when you go over her she is more lightly built and had left her clothes in the wardrobe or the vacuum as her handler said, but the construction is there and the coat will grow back. She has a lovely feminine head, lovely dark eyes with correct ear set, medium length of neck, level topline, well curled tail and set, moved freely round the ring, still a little immature but has time on her side and she is lovely breed type. 2 Frost -Treadwell’s Frostisen Blakk Zitter Black litter sister to my dog RCC winner. Heavier type did not quite have the lightness of her brother, but has a lovely feminine head with dark eyes, good ear set, medium length of neck with compact body, good tail and set, would have liked her to move out a little more freely. 3 Guillod & Rees. Draccus Obsidian at Bucamereru.
OB (2) 1 Patrick & Ashman’s Ch Tapui Starla 3yr old wheaten that caught my eye the minute she walked into the ring, and she did not disappoint on examination. For me she is very hard to fault. She is a nice size very feminine with a beautiful head, dark eyes, neat well-set ears, nicely arched neck, level topline with compact body, so well balanced with correct angulation and moved effortless round the ring and was very attentive to her handler all the time, who I gather she had only met a few minutes before going into the ring as her owner was detained in another ring. This showed her good temperament and her handlers’ skill.
BCC & BOB. 2 Strong’s Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen at Draccus. Attractive 5yr old black, well balanced with lovely feminine head with the darkest of eyes, good ear placement nice length of neck with moderate arch, level topline kept on the move good angulation, well curled tail and set, not quite the lightness of movement of one. RBCC. All the exhibits have scissor bites, so I have not commented on them individually.
