Critiques:
I gave my first tickets in Norwegian Buhunds back in the early 1980s at Blackpool. I still remember my Open Bitch class: ten beautiful bitches. I later discovered nine were champions and the line up actually brought tears to my eyes: on the day I gave the 10th bitch her third ticket! They were devastated in the intervening years and, in effect, breeders had to start from scratch. There is no doubt that they are improving but there is still some way to go before the balance between substance, structure, size and movement are achieved. Most dogs moved well from the side with no over-reaching but coming and going was disappointing for almost all crabbed (some much worse than others). I was unable to work out why this should be as one of the reasons dogs crab is that they are forced to do so – because they over-reach! Some dogs were a little weak in the hind quarter and other a little loose in from. Not serious but enough to prevent them getting the highest placings. Be all that as it may there were some good, promising dogs entered and I greatly appreciated the entry and my excellent stewards.
PD (2,1) 1 Cobb & Cobb & Kent’s Leggatts Dakota at Knytshall, Very promising puppy. Lovely outline and good construction, Typical tail set and carriage. Very nice expression which will improve as he matures and his head broadens. Moved well in profile but a tendency to crab coming and going.
JD (1) 1 Owens Leggatts Night Fever. Good outline and structure. Moved well and has a lovely typical head, eye and expression although I would not want him any taller.
LD (1) 1 Dosson’s Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn, Very good outline, good construction with very nice head and good eye. Moved reasonably well although a little weak at the offside hock.
OD (6,1) 1 Corin & Camm’s Kligenthal Almuric. An excellent example of the breed. Lovely head, super tail set and carriage. Very good outline and structure. Just crabbed a little coming and going. DCC & BOB. 2 Deuchar’s Ch Rikarlo Gable JW. This is lovely example of the breed. Very goods outline and structure and typical head and expression. Perhaps a fraction stuffy in neck and just a little weak at his nearside hock. Res DCC.
VB (4) A lovely class with a 15 year old one of the best movers of the day. 1 Crocker’s Knytshall Noor Ul Ain. 7 years old and quite lightly built but excellen outline and structure. Good head, tail set and carriage. Just crabbed a little. 2 Platts Ch Ailort Just in Time. 15 years old ands one of the best movers of the day so far. Good outline, very attractive head but carrying rather too much weight
PB (1) 1 Gilbert’s Leggatts Fly Like An Eagle. Very pretty bitch, more interested in the floor than showing herself off, Good shape and structure. Moved well from the side but crabbed a little on the move.
JB (4) ) 1 Irvine’s Blackcombe Bodil at Tapui (Imp Aus). Lovely bitch. Good Outline and structure, excellent head, tail set and carriage. Moved very well. BCC 2 Crocker’s Leggatts Jive Talkin. Very pretty, promising bitch. A little shy and still rather slight for the breed but will improve as she matures, but lovely eye head and expression. Very good on the move.
PGB (6,2) 1 Crockers Leggatts Jive Talkin 2nd Gilbert’s Leggatts Fly Like An Eagle. 3rd Guillod & Rees’ Draccus Obsidian. Very shy but handled very competently by Bethany who is just 8 years old. A very nice bitch with a lovely head which moved very well.
LB 1 Blackcombe Bodil at Tapui (Imp Aus) 2 Leggatts Jive Talkin.
OB (7,3)) 1 Patrick & Ashman’s Tapui Starla. RBCC A very nice example of the breed. Typical head, expression, tail set and carriage. Very good structure and outline. Moving away perhaps a little weak at the hock. 2nd Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Eloise. Cobby bitch. Neck held a little upright and tail set a little low, while she move a little loosly at the shoulder.
GCD (1) 1 Crocker’s Knytshall Noor Ul Ain
