Norwegian Buhunds
I very much enjoyed judging this breed. Very nice entry & not a single absentee! There were some lovely quality dogs present & I was particularly impressed with my BD & RBD who turned out to be litter brothers.
Please bear in mind that the Norwegian Buhund should be very square. Furthermore at his best he carries himself proudly & is a dry, well muscled Spitz.
PD (1) 1 Pentland’s Sturtmoor Destiny’s Day, 8 months old b/w chest mark & a little white on toes. Endearing temperament. Very nice head, good dark eye, but ears at this stage a little large. Enough body, needs to firm up in front. Would like tighter carried tail. JD (1) 1 Bethell’s Zodiac’s Featuring Fredrik at Taevas, masculine junior who is a little long cast & better muscle condition would help. Good head with very nice eyes, but would like better carried ears. Good bone. Moves well. PGD (4) 1 Butler’s Arnscroft Aces High Di of Telstar, 2 year old masculine young male of correct type. Very lovely head, excellent eye, well carried ears. Not in his best jacket & needs a little more body. Lovely happy temperament; 2 Coe’s Trelowen Big Daddy, 2 year old, would like him a tad shorter, nice head, but eye could be a little smaller. His loin is a little long which gives him the extra length. Good coat quality. Nice mover; 3 Bethell’s Zodiac’s Featuring Fredrik at T. LD (2) 1 Bowe’s Tokyn Douglas among Ekusen, masculine male who is square enough. Very nice head, but could do with darker eye. Correct ears. Carries himself very well which helps his outline. Good coat. Nice side movement, but could be better coming towards you; 2 Deuchar’s Trelowen Ancorya, masculine male with good head, but would like better eye & expression. Good bone. Nice coat quality. Would like him a little stronger in the rear with better tail carriage. OD (4) Quality class to judge. 1 Cale, Dobson & Evans’ Arnscroft Di To Be A Sailor, masculine male of lovely breed type, outline & carriage. Super head, excellent dark eye giving correct expression. Very soundly made. Excellent, well carried tail. Good quality coat. Excellent mover. BD & BOB; 2 Shorer-Wheeler, Wheeler & Gillies’ Ch Arnscroft Di Na Mo Farrah of Koromandel, 1st & 2nd turned out to be full brothers & they really were like peas in a pod & it was difficult to separate them as they are both excellent breed specimens. To split hairs I would like 2nd to have a touch more neck, but a very handsome team of brothers. RBD; 3 Pentland’s Ch Svartkonge AV Sturtmoor. GC (3) 1 Ch A Di Na Mo Farrah; 2 A Aces High Di of T; 3 King’s Ch Trelowen Heligan.
PB (1) 1 Smith, Deuchar & Deuchar’s Kimuras Tyra at Arnscroft, 9 month old very pleasing pretty bitch puppy of correct type. Very feminine, beautiful head, medium eye. Soundly made with good quarters. Just a little roly-poly at the moment & needs to firm up. BP. JB (1) 1 Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Angel Delight, junior bitch who was a little unsure of herself& needs more confidence. Good skull, but needs slightly stronger muzzle, excellent dark eye. Would like better carried ears. Needs a little more bone. Moved well. PGB (1) 1 K Angel Delight. LB (2) 1 Bethell’s Arnscroft Glad Di Ola, 2 year old strong bitch, who is a touch heavy overall. Quality head. Nice bone. Strong body, well made rear. Quality jacket; 2 Cobb & Kent’s Trollheimen Elske to Knytshall, 2 year old black, who I would like a little stronger. Very nice head. Just enough bone. At the moment a little long cast& needs to grow into her frame. OB (2) 1 Cale, Pentland Norman & Norman’s Ch Arnscroft Kiss And Tell Di for Sturtmoor, 5 year old, very showy bitch. Pleasing head, but I would like a little more filling under the eyes. Carries herself very well. Very nice mover. Would like better coat quality. BB; 2 Pentland’s Bernegarden’s Reve Enka AV Sturtmoor, 4 year old bitch of very nice type, but not in full coat. Very feminine & with excellent proportions. Bone a little light. Very good body, excellent tail. Preferred movement of 1st. RBB.
