 Norwegian Buhunds

Always a very sporting atmosphere with Buhunds. Not a good time of year for coats. Some I thought looked a little too heavy. Out & back movement not a strong point in the breed. Temperaments all excellent, no mouth issues & all were very well presented. Interesting to have a few blacks, they seemed generally to be a lighter type, with correct length of leg.

VD (1) 1 Vines’ Ch Ailort Highlander at Parvodene, 7 years, light easy mover, although could be tidier out & back. Masculine head, well balanced. Correct eyes with well set ears. Correct neck. Short back. Maybe slightly heavy in body. Holds a level topline. Moderate hind angulation. Well set & carried tail. Super muscle. Feet could be tighter now. MPD (0). PD (2) 1 Pentland’s Sturtmoor Destiny’s Day, liked his lightness of build & fairly short back. Very good head, well set ears. Correct neck. Fair front. Feet OK. Well ribbed back. Correct hind angulation. Could just firm up in rear. BP; 2 Owens’ Sturtmoor Danfandango, very promising pup, not helping his handler at all. Pleasing head. Slight stop. Correct neck. Liked his legs & feet. Short back. Once settled very good stride, can also firm in rear. Really is a good dog. JD (1) 1 Garvie’s Rhialis Apollo, has a light build, just right for body. Masculine head. Dark eye. Ears could be higher set. Enough neck. Very moderate in angulation. Liked his legs & feet. Low hocks. Fairly straight up & back, just over kicks in the rear. PGD (2) A. LD (3,1a) 1 Deuchar’s Trelowen Ancorya, quite a typy dog in super muscle. Liked his head, although eyes rather bold & light. Correct neck. Well made front. Firm in topline. Correct hind angulation. Could be better in hock. Slightly untidy in front. Goes with even stride; 2 Walmsley’s Blakk Extacy Van Koekie’s Ranch, looks heavier than he actually is, but rather long in back. Liked his well balanced, masculine head. Correct ear set. OK neck. Carries tail well. Hocks could be better. Lifts his front too much on move. OD (6,1) Very good class to judge. 1 Hood & Collins’ Ch Arnscroft Di Nah Sawr Us Rex, lovely light dog, showing so well & best mover in class. He has a super head, dark eyes, well set ears. Correct length neck. Well laid shoulder. Decent in upper arm. Good legs & feet. Firm topline. Well ribbed. Very slightly long, but seems to shorten up on move. Correct rear. Stands parallel behind, which was something of a rarity. Pretty good out & back & goes with easy, light stride. CC & BOB; 2 Shorer-Wheeler, Wheeler & Gillies’ Ch Arnscroft Di Na Mo Farrah of Koromandel, another v good dog. He has a super head. Dark eyes, well set ears, which he uses all time. Lengthy neck. Well laid shoulder. He is just slightly untidy in front. Well ribbed. Also just a fraction long. Correct rear angulation. Good hocks. In slightly better coat than 1, but not his front action. RCC; 3 Penniston Fleming & Williams’ Ch/Am Ch Visions Dino of Trollheimen.

VB (1) 1 Isaac’s Fullani Feema avec Tonylynn, 10 years bitch, very well muscled. She has a super head. Lovely eye & expression. Enough neck. Well laid shoulder. Good spring of rib. Just a bit heavy in body. Fairly sound if rather reluctant to see the point of running around a ring.

MPB (0). PB (1) 1 Glaholm’s Sturtmoor’s Dream Maker at Gazenorth, really lovely pup, who needs to loose some weight. Like her feminine head. Dark, expressive eyes. Well set ears. Correct neck. Well laid shoulder, but weight just pushing front out slightly. Level topline. Could be shorter in loin. Very good rear. Well set & carried tail. JB (3) 1 Bolton’s Rikarlo Hermione, very typy bitch, who has best texture coat in class. Liked her feminine head. Dark eyes. Lengthy neck. Well laid shoulder. Could be firmer in pastern. Well sprung ribs. Correct rear angulation. Can firm in front but goes away well. Very promising young bitch; 2 Garvie’s Rhialis Psyche, has a pleasing outline, completely out of coat, just in her soft undercoat today. Liked her head, well shaped eye. Correct neck. Good legs & feet. Topline could be firmer. Enough hind angulation, but can stand rather close. Needs to firm in movement; 3 Butterworth’s Rikarlo Henrietta. PGB (2) 1 R Hermione; 2 Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Angel Delight, lightly built bitch who is between coats. Would like just a little more strength to her muzzle. Lengthy neck. More rear angulation than front, which shows on move. Really liked her shortness of back. LB (4) 1 Cobb & Kent’s Trollheimen Elske to Knytshall, lightly built feminine bitch, who has a light & easy profile stride. Like her fem head. Dark eye. Well set ears. Correct length of neck. Good legs & feet. Just holding her coat, which is really well textured. Correct, moderate rear. Could be slightly tidier out & back. Thought her such a lovely type. CC; 2 Stonton’s Trelowen Andrea, lots to like about this bitch, she is quite good out & back, but could go with a bit more lightness in profile. She has a super head. Lengthy, strong neck. Well balanced in her moderate angulation. Chest to elbow. Coat is OK. Just a fraction longer than 1; 3 Penniston Fleming’s Trelowen Sangsom. OB (3) Very hard class to sort out. 1 Pentland’s Bernegarden’s Reve Enka Av Sturtmoor, she won class on her shortness of back. She has a super head. Correct neck. Wouldn’t want her any heavier in body. Holds a firm topline with well set tail. Could be tidier out & back, & just not the light stride of limit winner. Not in fullest coat. RCC; 2 Garvie’s Ch Ailort Just Jinks, this bitch is more accurate out & back, although she does pin in front, but is longer than 1. She too has a very pleasing head. Enough neck. Level topline. Well muscled up. Feet could be tighter; 3 Bethell’s Lux Ch Arnscroft Glad Di Ola.
