Critiques:

I so appreciated being given this first opportunity to award CCs by LKA having had unfailing Club support, including a Club show, since obtaining a JDP Credit some 10 yrs ago. I needed a min of 15 hands on to be considered. I had 38. And we even excelled that Club show with 22 of the actual 24 exhibits present and, unbelievably, 10 of those were puppies that surely speaks volumes for the future of the breed. My homework included the Club’s brilliant illustrated extended breed standard from a Di Stirling lecture. I confess colour descriptions generally are not my strength so best you assume wheaten if not noted. One breed feature that was prominent throughout the classes was the double tail curl. We were gifted the most experienced Mr & Mrs as stewards who both kept me up to the mark, having 3 x CC breeds to judge, & sent me home with such accurately completed paperwork as to ease me through the critiquing process. PD (3) 1 Denham-Horton & Bolton, Tapui Haraldsson At Jjavacobe, 7m today, wheaten, turns out he was the first of the day’s puppy siblings, immediately took my eye with his functionally light, unexaggerated build & that “soldier of a dog” presence, oval eye, high & mobile ear, clean wedge of a head, clean front, pretty short & compact, oval feet with some slope to firm pastern, smooth lying weatherproof coat, double curl, so light & straight moving & so confident & secure notwithstanding his tender age,one to watch out for. 2 Lambert, Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It, 8.5m wheaten, of a heavier build, somewhat narrower through muzzle, excellent ear, short-coupled, correctly limited in rear angulation, double curl, absolutely sound with a gd balanced stride so as to state his claim. 3 Kent, Cobb, & Cobb, Knytshall Ragged Robin JD (1) 1 S Gon’n Dun It PGD (1) 1 Dosson & Dosson, Leggatts Part Time Lover, 13m of an excellent breed type & structure, some breadth & flatness to skull with correct degree of narrowing to create a blunt ended triangle, marked stop, excelled in eye & ear, lean neck with slight arch, firm front, unexaggerated angles gave balance, just that bit of body length that’s commensurate with this teenage stage, double curl on a highset tail, ex coat, firm in rear & hock so as to stride out straight with balance, fingers crossed for the future. LD (1) 1 Butterworth & Butterworth Kligenthal Einar (ai) 2.5yrs, handsome male of such gd type, ex wedge of a clean head through to a blunt end of muzzle with excellent skull, eye& ear, well structured, short & compact albeit rather “big” in rib that can be addressed, level, slight tuck-up, limited rear angulation, excelled on the move being so accurate & free striding allowing for a degree of single tracking when in full flow, well able to hold his own. OD (3) 1 Shorer-Wheeler Ch Koromandel Tusen Takk (ai) JW, such “a soldier of a dog”, lightly built yet short & compact, lean, narrowing, blunt wedge of a head with both some breadth across skull & ideally placed eye & ears with strength of muzzle, so well put together with unexaggerated angulation, nicely coupled with depth, excellent tailset & carriage, smooth-lying coat, some typical single tracking & lowering of the head when in full flight, beautifully balanced mover with a good stride. DCC & BOB 2 Deuchar & Deuchar, Ch Rikarlo Gable JW, 6yrs hence that touch heavier ribbed but maintains that look that I’m sure I’ve admired before being pretty much square & compact, balanced & in the mould of a functional farm dog, handsome headed forming a blunt ended triangle, touch full in eye, ideal front, feet & pastern, muscled rear with excellent tail carriage, excellent functional, coat qualities, sound striding, driving off a firm hock, half- brother to a number of winners today being a son of Ch K Best Served Cold At K. 3 Dosson & Dosson, Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn GCD (1)1 L Part Time Lover VD/B (1) 1 Butterworth & Butterworth, Ch Koromandel Gild The Lily, 7.5yrs b. of a superior breed type both in head & in body, excellent eye & pigment, fabulous, mobile, ears, remains light in build, square outline, ideal degree of rib & depth, well-set double curl, weatherproof coat, moved straight & lightfooted with good, balanced, strides, my judging book reads “should be titled” so I did get that bit right & has also proved a point being both the dam of LD & 3rd in OD with 3yrs between them. RBCC and BVIB PB (7) 1 Irvine, Tapui Herja At Blackcombe Naf, 7m today from Ch Norwegian & Aus stock, nothing worth faulting, best of head features contained within a lean, narrowing wedge with correct length of muzzle, slight arch to medium neck, correct in rib & depth, smooth-lying weatherproof coat, tight double curl, strode out both straight & with confidence, you could have heard a pin drop, with the ringside so wrapped up in this unexpected class, but less so when I called this one out! BPIB 2 Patrick & Ashman, Tapui Herborg, litter sister who was equally well received, they make a great brace as they have so many attributes in common, so feminine with no loss of strength of form, scores in eye & muzzle, also light built but square & compact, double curl, strode out well, another sibling stood Res, so many assured futures here for all to admire. 3 Wheeler, Knytshall Thistle Ink It Up Koromandel JB (1) 1 T Herborg LB (5,1) 1 Rumsey & Rumsey, Kata Syndattir Av Fjeldvidda At Wheatshade (Imp NL), 5.5yrs shaded wheaten shown in super fit, functional, condition, scored in skull, eye, ear & muzzle, clean front with good neck & forehand, touch longer than ideal, notwithstanding her sex, correctly limited in rear angulation, went well on good feet with balanced, effective, strides. 2 Rees, Guillod & Guillod Draccus Obsidian At Bucamereru, 3.5yrs blk, a bit bold in eye, highset, mobile ears, a touch narrow in muzzle, good neck & backline through to a well set & carried tail, harsh outer coat, light & active mover 3 Taylor, Taylor & Taylor Frostisen Blakk Zitter OB (3)1 Irvine, Ch Blackcombe Bodil At Tapui (Imp, Aus), I love it when you all know the connections & I’m the only one who doesn’t, being a non- specialist, since here stood the rising 3yrs dam of those puppy siblings, so classically typical, light framed, fit & functional looking, all those head features present & correct, excellent neck & good spring of rib, nicely square & compact, unexaggerated angles, double curl, strode out straight with single-tracking as speed increased, wonder what her next/repeat litter may produce’ BCC. 2 Patrick & Ashman, Ch Tapui Starla, rising 4yrs & a Ch Best Served Cold daughter, beautifully square & compact, albeit needs no more condition, such a textbook ear, touch bold in eye, great conformation, unexaggerated in angles, well placed & carried double curl, free striding & balanced as she gaited to clearly demonstrate her Ch status. 3 Cobb, Cobb, & Kent, Knytshall Eloise R12Ex SPECIAL BEGINNERS B (1) 1 K Thistle Ink It Up K, rising 8m blk who took 3rd in that hot PB, her dam was 3rd in OB & another by Ch Best Served Cold, shown to advantage by young exh who knew her ideal pace, excelled in eye & ear, narrow enough in muzzle, carrying enough condition but that’s no fault & is all just part of the differing growth phases, arch to neck, unexaggerated angulation, pretty square & short coupled, firm rear, harsh outer coat, moved straight with a balanced stride to take the eye, this team have an assured future together.
