NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS

Those of you who read these notes regularly will know that in August Ch Tapui Herja At Blackcombe (Hari) flew to Australia to Dr Roberta Crouch, now recently at her first dog show Dogs South Australia, she was BOB and Best Junior in the Herding Group. The next day her kennel mate Thunder who was at his second show and who arrived at Roberta’s just a short time before Hari was BOB, and shortlisted in the group in the morning show and Group 3 in the afternoon show. Thunder is Can Ch Riverhund Kyon Thunder To Down Under O’Blackcombe born on the 16th May 2024 he is by Can/Am Gr Ch Kyon’s Bold Nordic Prince (Loki)x Can Ch Kyon’s Fine Flotte Rue (Rue).

This year is the 40th Anniversary of the Young Kennel Club. To celebrate this the RKC Art Gallery hosted a special exhibition running from 7th May till 31st October showing the origins of the Organisation and showcasing a wide array of items from the YKC’s early days highlighting its growth into the organisation it is today.There was a 40th Anniversary Dinner at the RKC on Friday 3rd October, three Buhund owners attending who came up through the YKC were Jenny Shorer-Wheeler, Jacqui Walmsley and all the way from Eire Addrienne Frost Treadwell, just managing to arrive before things were cancelled due to the arrival of storm Amy. After a great lunch and fabulous day unfortunately Jacqui and Addreine’s train back to the west country was cancelled, so they had to have a taxi to Basingstoke not arriving home till just before 2am. Their late arrival home did not put them off getting up early to go to Plymouth & District Canine Society Show held at The Matford Centre Exeter, where Addreinne handled her Anne-Marie, Dave and Mary Taylor’s Frostisen’s Zitter (Penny) to BOB and litter sister Frostisen Zeta (Birdie) to a win in the PG class, RBOB was Mary and David Dosson’s Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn (Teddy),the judge was Carol Cavangh who judged all the Pastoral breeds and the, Group she gives CCs in 3 breeds one utility and two working. Anne-Marie, Jacqui and Addreinne also entered the handling classes with Addreinne winning the geriatric class as she put it! saying as she had not done handling since 1991/2, she was very glad to win showing she had not lost the touch.
