Breed Notes 14th May 2021 Margaret Deuchar

NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS

On the 30th of March Ch /Ir Ch Arnscroft Kimura (Kato)crossed the Rainbow bridge now only 4 weeks later his sister Arnscroft Di Sing On Ice (Tusk) has crossed the bridge to join him. Losing one dog is hard enough, but to lose two in such close proximity is especially hard for owner and breeder Di Stirling. Tusk was born on 2nd February 2009 and was only lightly shown. She won her first RCC on 21st May 2010 under the late Vic Salt then on 1st July the same year she won her first CC under Jeff Luscott. On the 27th of June 2013 again at Windsor she won her second RCC this time under Debbie Penniston-Fleming. Windsor was a successful show for Tusk as on 26th June 2014 she won her second CC again under the late Vic Salt.

Tusk was a fantastic brood bitch having three Champions from her first litter born on 29th July 2012 during the London Olympics. Ch Di Na Mo Farrah of Koromandel JW ShCM , Ch Arnscroft Di Nah May(Anja) and Ch Arnscroft Di To Be A Sailor (Sirius )between them they have 39CCs. Tusk’s second litter born on 1st December 2015 also produced a Champion, Arnscroft Never Say Di (Oskar) who has 7 CCs. The sire for both litters was Ch/AKC Ch Visions Dino of Trollheimen(Imp US) (Caspar),who was also waiting for  Tusk over the bridge as he passed that way in March this  year.

Tusk’s and Caspar’s legacy in the breed will continue to be felt in the UK and all over the world through their offspring. In 2016 Mo sired a litter and from that litter Sturtmoor Eeza Geeza at Buhcafrey(Geeza) has 1RCC and Sturtmoor’s Eezee Luvva(Evee) has 2RCCs, she had a litter producing Sturtmoors’s Free’n Eezee(Sheira) who was BPIB at Crufts 2020 also winning the RBCC, then of course the pandemic put on hold her showing activities. Her litter sister Sturtmoor  Ffascination with Koromandel (Fable)has had great grandchildren of Tusk .In 2019 MO sired two bitch puppies Koromandel Kjaereste and Kormonandel Kullanmurin one resides in Germany and the other in Finland. A Kligenthal litter born in 2017 is waiting in the wings for shows and other canine activities to start again.

Sirius has sired 5 litters, a litter in 2016 produced Ch Arnscroft In Di Ana Jack who has 7CCs and litter brother Arnscroft Be A Sailors Son Di (Skipper) who went to live in the US with Amie Mc Laughlin. As well as being successful in the show ring becoming a Grand Champion, he has also sired two litters with MBIS MRBIS MBISS GCHP JOTUNN Bella Binna CA CGC BCAT (who is top winning Norwegian Buhund in AKC history). Together they now have 6 Champion 2 Bronze Grand Champion and 2 Group winning offspring. Cloudpointe Drive It like You Stole It, from the first litter born on 7th July 2018 has been very successful in the show ring but has been out shone by offspring from the second litter born in September 2019, one of these is Cloudpointe Ringside Gossip (Buzz) who as well as being a champion also has Multiple group placing. Cloudpointe Secrets out at Delarouche (Rumor) out of the same litter is owned by Andrew and Caroline Russell -Catt in Australia.

Ch Arnsroft Never Say Di has also sired a Leggatts litter born on 25th August 2020 but of course as with the Kligenthal litter the pandemic has not allowed them to take part in any canine activities, in contrast to the US and Australia where showing has continued.

Happily, it does look as if the show season here in the UK will start again in June and I am very excited having entered two shows, something I would not normally do until just before the closing date!

Anne has put a list of the Ch shows, that hopefully will take place, on the front page of the club website.

Stay safe everyone
