NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS
The year marches on it will soon be Christmas! No Ch show with classes for the breed until South Wales which again sadly is a Friday, hopefully this means that there will be more Pastoral days on a Saturday next year. Wealdstone & Northolt Canine Society’s Top Event was held in the late afternoon early evening on the Wednesday before Darlington, there was a free buffet and raffle and was held in the Lockmead Market Hall in Maidstone Kent. Marie Corin headed there with her and Adam Camm’s Ch Kligenthal Almuric (Bergen) having qualified earlier in the Year. The judges were Lyn Church who gives CCs in Lhasa Apsos and BSDs Groenendael & Tervuren and her son Shane. Marie told me they did each adult and puppy groups, then all the veterans followed by the special beginners and the stakes winners as separate classes. Then the Top Dog from all the adult group winners, Bergen won the Pastoral group with a very lovely rosette under Shane Church, so went into the final for Top Dog with judge Steve Goodwin who awards CCs in Toy, Utility and Terrier Breeds, he awarded top honours to an American Cocker with the Puppy of the Year going to a Vallhund. Marie was very pleased as the American Cocker came from her Ringcraft Club.
Exeter & County Canine Society was established in 1925 and now runs a Premier Open Show which also hosts a Junior Warrant Qualifying Heat and 4 handling classes .This year the show was held the day after Darlington in The Matford Centre Exeter .The were no Buhund classes but the breed was represented in AVNCS Pastoral by Ann-Marie & David Taylor’s Frostisen Blakk Zitter (Penny)who was Best AVNSC with Mary and Coralie Dosson’s Leggatts Part Time(Barnaby)going Reserve Best AVNSC & BP and was later PG3 under judge Tate Forsey, who gives CCs in Alaskan Malamutes & Finnish Lapphunds. Penny also represented the breed in the junior handling classes with a young lady she had only met 5 minutes before, so well-done Penny.
The following day Westbury & District Canine Society show was held at Langley Burrell Village Hall, Chippenham. Buhunds were well represented for judge Felicity Snook who awarded BP to Sue Crockers Knytshall Superstition (Franny) handled by Jasmine Freeborn who also handled Sue’s Leggatts Jive Talking (Noodle) to BOB. Ann-Marie & David Taylor’s Frostisen Blakk Zitter (Penny) was RBOB and Sue’s Knytshall Ul Ain (Noor) was BV and later VG3 under judge Mark Johnson who gives CCs in Border Collies.

Please remember with Autumn coming that acorns are poisonous to dogs and young dogs in particular can easily pick them up.
