NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS
The Nordic show this year was held on 22nd November at its usually venue of The Sports Connexion Ryton on Dunsmore, Coventry. It is a unique show in that it is only for Spitz breeds. The FCI has a Group 5 for Spitz Breeds, but that also includes Primitive breeds. Sadly, the show is not as popular as it used to be when it was held in the summer, it is dark by 4pm and there always seems to be a cold snap around this time of year, the show just missed the snow and freezing weather by a day this year, although even so it was only just above freezing. The year after the pandemic it snowed and many exhibitors and judges including the Buhund judge could not make it. Our judge this year was Felicity Snook who gives CCs in 11 breeds in the Terrier Group and is a Level 2 judge for Buhunds. She found her BOB in Millie Lambert’s Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It JW(Gunna). RBOB Sue & Sam Crocker & Jasmine Freeborn’s Ch Leggatts Jive Talking (Noodle).BV was the same owners Leggatts Voulez Vous (Tissy). Noodle was 2nd in the RBOB Group also judged by Felicity, she was a very busy lady as she also judged the Junior Handling Association classes, awarding third place to Bethany Guillod -Rees in the 6-11 age group, handling her and her parents Draccus Obsidian At Bucamereru (Ruby). The pair also won the Nordic Open Stakes under Mark Ord who was also judging BIS BPIS & BVIS he gives CCs in 22 Hound Breeds and 16 Terrier Breeds; the win gave Bethany some treat money for Ruby! Lisa & Alex Strong’s Draccus I Have A Dream (ai) (Raven)was 2nd in the Open Stakes also under Mark Ord.
The following day in Peterborough Lisa had organised a Bu Bumble in Hinchingbrooke Country Park, which covers 150 acres of grassland, woodlands and lakes. Lisa took Raven and her mum Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen At Draccus (Eris) who was released from maternal duties a few days early. Sarah Stonton took Wheatshade Snow Dreamer (Pixie) & her dad Ch Arnscroft In Di Ana Jack (Jack). Sue Camm went along with Arnscroft Di Amond Pearl (Teya). There were also honorary Buhunds, Sue with a spaniel Willow and Tania and her daughter with Betty a Cockerpoo.
The same day but further south and west it was Bristol & District Dog Club Show held at the Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Weston Super Mare. The judge was Ken Andrew who gives CCs in 14 Hound breeds and 3 Terrier Breeds. He found his BOB in Millie Lambert’s Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It JW(Gunna) who was having a good weekend, he was also shortlisted in the Group also under Ken Andrew who judged all the breeds in the Pastoral Group. BP was Mary & David Dosson’s Kimura’s Ola Normann (IMP Nor) (Ola) born on 30th April this was his first show, a great start to his showing career as he was also 3rd in the AV Christmas Puppy Stakes under Celia Vines. Mary also won a lovely hamper in the raffle. Sue & Sam Crocker & Jasmine Freeborn’s Leggatts Voulez Vous (Tissy) was 4th in AV Pastoral Veteran also under Ken Andrew.
