NORWEGIAN BUHUNDS
We are now in June how did that happen; the days and weeks seem to be going by so quickly. Bath Ch show was held on the Three Shires Field Bath and took place over 4 days which included the Bank Holiday Monday, when I showed Elkhounds, Hound Day was always the Monday which was not always ideal for travelling. Now it is an All-Breed show it must rotate its days. Pastoral Day was the first day, the Friday. We were first in the ring which meant some exhibitors stayed locally, halfway, or left at home at silly o’clock. Debbie and I came into the last category, we had a very good journey, although I was quite surprised at just how busy the M25 was at 6am! It was a cold but dry day, and the ground was in perfect condition. The show started promptly at 9am , our judge was Toni Jackson who was giving CCs for the first time in the breed , last time she judged the breed was at our club Ch show, when she did he Special Award classes at our first Ch show after the pandemic on 23rd Oct 2021, held led in the carpark of Shirland Village Hall, I remember it well as I was stewarding and it was very cold ! Toni started judging in 1986 and has judged in Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Germany. She breeds and shows Finnish Lapphunds with the Elbereth Affix, and awards CCs in 3 Utility,3Working and 15 Pastoral breeds. She found her BOB & DCC his 16th he also has 4CCs in Jenny Shorer-Wheeler’s Ch Koromandel Tusen Takk JW (ai)(Muchly), by Multi Ch Trollheimen JR Made For Cascilius x Sturtmoor Ffascination With Koromandel (Fable). He was later shortlisted in the Pastoral Group under Darren Clarke, and won some treat money in the AV Working/Pastoral Good Citizen Dog Scheme Stakes by coming third under judge Jacqueline Ward.BP & RDCC his 2nd Mary & Coralie Dosson’s 6month old Leggatts Part Time Lover (Barnaby), he is by Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn (Teddy) x Knytshall Noor Ul Ain,(Noor) he won his first RCC only 5days earlier at SKC. BCC her first Dr Jo ,Jo, Nicolas and Bethany Guillod -Rees Draccus Obsidian at Bucamereru(Ruby) by Ch Rikarlo Gable JW (Time) x Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen At Draccus (Eris). This was not only Ruby’s first CC but also the owners as Ruby is their first show dog, it was also her breeder Lisa and Alex Strong’s first as a breeder . I believe there were some celebrations that evening. Ruby is normally handled by daughter Bethany but being a weekday she was at school, so Ruby was handled by mum Jo. I am sure we can all remember the joy of winning that first CC. Showing can look easy but you do not need me to tell you it isn’t. Whether it be dogs, horses, farm animals even chickens, you first need a good example of the breed whatever it may be, then it needs to be in tip top condition and last but certainly not least be happy to show and be handled, like people some animals enjoy showing off others not so much. With help and advice, it all came together for the Guillod-Rees family at Bath. RBCC her 4th she also has a CC Jenny’s Fable (Muchly’s dam) by Koromandel Best Served Best Served Cold At Knytshall (Jamie) x Sturtmoor’s Eezee Luvva (Sheira), it was just as well it wasn’t any colder as Fable had left her clothes at home. BBP Sue Crocker’s Leggatts Superstition (Franny) she is Barnaby’s litter sister.BV Sue’s Knytshall Noor Ul Ain(Noor) by Knytshall Diamond Ted x Ch Trollheimen Elske to Knytshall.
On 22nd May, Di Stirling said goodbye to her Ch/Ir Ch Arnscroft Di Di Di Delilah (her pet name was Fag Ash Lil!). She was born on 7th November 2007 and was by Ch Trelowen Pistyll x Ch Arnscroft Di Sing With Death JW. She won her first RCC on 9th July 2008 at Windsor Ch show under the late Ferelith Somerfield and her last RCC at the Club show on 20th November 2018 under June Purves. In the intervening years she won 17CCS 5 with BOB had another 15 RCCs.
Sarah Stonton with Ch Arnscroft In Di Ana Jack RL2 L6ex has won out of Entry Level in the National Nosework Association trials, and with this success they are now in second place in the NNA Pastoral League and 18th overall, many congratulations. The next level is Enhanced, and I am sure they will have the same success in this level. They are definitely on a roll as they also now only need 5 points to gain their Excellent in SWUK Level 7 after gaining 4th place in a recent trial ,so it won’t be long before they are in Level 8.
