Critiques:

Delighted to award my first set of CC’s, the sun came out for the breed and reflected the wonderful attitude of the dogs and exhibitors. Thank you for your entries.

JD (3) 1 Cobb, Cobb & Kent, Knytshall Ragged Robin. 12mths black. Quietly lovely dog. Nicely proportioned, gleaming black tight coat, masculine head with lovely eye shape and colour, good width to back skull, well placed ears. Nicely boned, tail bang on top, ribs well sprung and carried back. Moderate angles both ends, moved cleanly and accurately to top this nice class and was part of a dog line up where I would’ve been happy to give a green card to any of them. 2 Denham-Horton, Tapui Haraldsson At Jjavacobe. Super stylish 12 mths wheaten. He has the most gorgeous headpiece, super dark almond eye, well set and used ears, classic wedge shape, lovely neck into a good compact frame, good angles both ends, another textbook tail. Just needs to develop further in chest as he was a touch narrow coming at me today, but gave a super picture on the go around. 3 Cobb, Cobb & Kent, Knytshall Beau Bramble.

PGD (2) 1 Lambert, Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It. Another stylish young wheaten dog. His head is so attractive, another with lovely dark eye, well set and used ears, and that classic wedge shape to the head. He is moderately angulated and perfectly balanced fore and aft with a poker straight topline. Chest has further to develop but time is very much on his side. Tail set well and tightly curled. Full of himself on the move today but performed well enough to merit the RDCC in a very pleasing male line up. 2 Dosson, Leggatt’s Part Time Lover, beautifully performing 19mth wheaten, lovely, sweet temperament, kind head again with lovely eye colour, slightly rounder in shape than 1. Muzzle could be a fraction longer to balance skull, which is developing nicely, ears well set and used. Coming on through the body with some maturing still to do. Another with good topline, balanced angles, moved tidily.

LD (1) 1 Corin & Camm, Mazads Nom De Plume. Every dog has its’ day and this was his (although a day early as he was celebrating his second birthday the day after!) I was interested to get my hands on him having watched him develop over the last year or so. He has a wonderful masculine head with the kind, intelligent expression I am looking for, eyes of good colour and shape, ears well placed and used. Enough neck carries into good firm topline, well developed with solid ribs and the right amount of bone to satisfy ‘strong but light’. A good square outline, tail well set and carried, moderate angles both ends. Would just like his feet a fraction tighter. He really gave his all on the move today where he was clean, well extended and light on his feet. DCC & BOB well earned, congratulations. 2 Draccus Diamond Day O’Bucafrey. A new dog to me, nice in head qualities with a dark eye, ears well set of good height. Gives a square outline standing and holds it well on the move. Well-muscled, lighter framed than one, needs more work to bring out his best.

OD (1) 1 Dosson, Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn, looking and performing as well as I have ever seen him. 5yrs wheaten dog with a very wise expression. Not the biggest, super square in outline and used himself very well on the move today. Good coat, tail well set if carried a touch uniquely, very well-muscled, reasonably tidy feet. Was close up for the RCC.

VB (1) 1 Crocker, Knytshall Noor Ul Ain. Lovely black 9yr old, ticks so many boxes for make and shape, then enjoys ripping up the paper those boxes are written on as she does her level best to throw her chances! When she chooses to keep her nose off the floor and her focus on her handler, she is an attractive squarely built lady, of good rib and well textured coat, with a correctly laid out head. Who can move, but only when she wants to! BV.

JB (1) Butters, Knytshall Tansy’s Tully. Lovely black 12mths litter sister to the JD winner. Beautiful head, superb spring of rib, lovely coat with good texture, tail bang on top. Well angled and used those angles to full advantage, clean up and down and positive going round. Was close up for the RBCC, just got a little bit ‘obedience toes’ in the last run round.

PGB (2,1) 1 Leggatts Superstition. Very petit wheaten who has the attention span of a butterfly. So pretty, square in outline, moves like she has a train to catch. I would like more of her all-round but she is a sweet pocket rocket.

LB (2,1) 1 Guillod, Rees & Guillod-Rees, Draccus Obsidian At Bucamereru. Coming up to 4yrs black, lovely head with well-shaped dark eye, well placed ears, good skull and correct ratios. In full coat and could perhaps be in slightly harder condition. Moderately angulated and well balanced, tailset ok, tail carriage good. Moved tidily and did enough to merit the RCC today.

OB (3,1) 1 Crocker, Leggatts Jive Talkin very pretty 3yr wheaten bitch, have seen her in better coat but her qualities are clear. Pretty head, laid out well with dark eye and neat ear with good height. Nicely crested neck into well laid shoulders, firm straight topline, tail bang on top and well curled. Hocks well let down and rear pasterns vertical. Stands so smartly and moved out with style. Delighted to award the BCC, her third, may she wear her crown with sass. 2 Cobb, Cobb & Kent, Knytshall Eloise Rl 2 Ex. Black, 6yrs, very different in style to one but still with plenty of quality and looking as good as I have ever seen her. Has bodied up nicely with maturity, could have a darker eye but head ok in shape, well put together, good textured coat and as neat and tidy on the move as you could ask for.
