Critiques:
My thanks to the Crufts committee for the invitation to judge and to my able stewards. I found temperaments excellent, happy dogs coming into me on a loose lead with no apprehension. I feel size has to be addressed some lower sized but well balanced others upper size and rangy. You cannot fix in a generation but it has to be managed or the breed will divide to it’s detriment. Some had very good feet some had not and nails must be attended to. Eyes and ear shape were excellent and dentition was correct in all winners. I was disappointed in some exhibitors handling of their dogs. You are there to show your dog to best advantage not to just let it stand anyway it wants and you move round it, or to allow it to stand ten to two or wrong behind just because you have not asked it to stand correctly. I was delighted by my main winners especially my best of breed who was full of quality and type and was in the last cut for the group . I did not know then but he goes back to amazing kennels both here and Canada and Norway and reminded me of many of the Buhunds I have loved and admired. PD 1 Denham-Horton & Bolton Tapui Haraldsson at Jjavacobe 9 months old wheaten in good coat. Nice head, good ears, good shoulder. Well coupled with an excellent tail set. Correct fore and aft sound coming a little loose away, good side gait. Well balanced baby needs to grow on to achieve full potential. BPIB. 2 Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It. 11months old wheaten and going into that teenage period. Not in as good coat as one today. Upper middle size, Good head, good shoulder, stands well fore, very good behind . A little long in loin at present but just needs time to grow into himself and fill out. Moved sound very good side gait. JD 1 Lambert’s Sturtmoor’s Gon’n Dun It. PGD 1 Corin and Camm. Mazads Nom De Plume. 21 months old eye catching wheaten of medium size. Lovely head and expression very good overline. Good shoulder. Very good tail set. Sound fore and aft moved correct toward, could be a little stronger behind, lovely side gait. He makes an excellent picture stood. In good coat and handled to advantage. He kept up his performance to take the Res CC I hope he gains his crown he deserves it. 2 Dosson’s Leggatts Part Time Lover 16 months old wheaten Dog. Another going through that teenage stage. Good head, correct shoulder. Good tail set, stood well fore and aft but needs to strengthen coming and going. In good coat and moved well round. Needs time to strengthen over all, swimming is a good tool. LD 1 Butterworth’s Kligenthal Einar 2 year old. Very good head, correct shoulder, good overline, good tail set. Stood correct but a little close behind going away and a tendency to flick one pastern coming to. Nice side gait when settled. Another I think would benefit from swimming just to give more strength in movement. OD 1 Langford’s Frostisen Zeffer 3 years old. Beautiful wheaten of correct size and proportions. Lovely masculine head, correct in shoulder, excellent overline. Well balanced with high set tail. Correct fore and aft. Sound coming and going with an exceptional side gait that took him to the dog CC and BOB. Delighted to see the group judge also appreciated him and was in the last cut for the group. 2 Corin and Camm Ch Kligenthal Almuric ShCex 5 year old another lovely wheaten male of excellent quality. Many of the same attributes as one. Lovely head, correct shoulder, good top line, excellent tail set. Sound coming and going, stood well correct fore and aft another with a very good side gait. On the day my CC winner took my eye all the time. Considered for the Res CC but the younger dog just kept his power and enthusiasm. Well handled. 3 Dosson’s Bran Mak Morn Good Citizen D 1 Dosson’s Kligenthal Bran Mak Morn. 5 years old. Another nice wheaten male. Good head. Slightly forward placed shoulder. Good tail set. Good overline. Sound coming and going, good side gait. Very nice would like to see a little more positivity on the move. 2 Dosson’s Leggatts Part Time Lover. VB 1 Butterworth’s Ch Koromandel Gild the Lily. 7 year old wheaten bitch with many qualities. Lovely head and expression, good shoulder, nice over line, very good tail set, stood straight fore and aft, moved well coming and going with a nice side movement. 2 Crocker’s Knytshall Noor ul Ain. 9 years old. Another very nice veteran who was enjoying her outing. Lovely head, good shoulder. Lower tail set than one. Correct fore and aft. Stood well and moved. Good on side movement. PB 1 Glibbery’s Tapui Haldis. 9 months old wheaten bitch. Very feminine with a good head and expression. Nice over line, good tailset. A well made baby who presents a pretty picture, needs to grow on to complete. Stood correct fore and aft and moved well if a little loose behind. Side movement was good. Best Puppy bitch but just preferred the dog over all. 2 Rumsey’s Wheatshade Iridium Sky. 11 months wheaten, very raw at moment and needs time. Rangier than one. Good head and expression, good shoulder a little long in loin and tail set needs to be higher and tail tighter. Stood correct fore and aft. Sound coming and going and moved well round the ring. PGB 1 Platts Mazads Joie De Vivre. 21 months very pretty wheaten bitch. Very feminine head, good shoulder, excellent tail set. Correct fore and aft, moved well up and back, very nice side gait considered for res CC. LB 1 Crocker’s Leggatts Jive Talkin. 3 years old lovely wheaten of excellent type and construction. Lovely head and expression, good shoulder, very good over line. Lovely tail set. Stood correct and so sound coming and going with an excellent side gait. She made a well balanced correct picture and filled my eye. Very well handled. Pleased to award her CC and Res BOB. 2 Rumsey’s Kata Syndattir Av FJeldvidda at Wheatshade. 5 years old wheaten. Lovely feminine head, good shoulder good overline, sound coming and going . Tailset is good but she can tend to drop it in stance but on the move had a lovely correct shape and took the second on her sound free flowing movement. 3 Taylor, Taylor Taylor and Frost- Treadwell. Frostisen Blakk Zitter. 3 years old. OB 1st Hekhuis NDL Ch Var Stolthet Liva Livsglede. 3 year old black. Feminine head, good shoulder, well made behind. Good tail set. Sound coming and going with a very good side movement. Stood made for a well balanced picture but I had to catch her in snatches as her ring training needs work, in challenge with a different handler she was much better and took the res CC. 2 Frost, Frost-Treadwell & Flanagan Int/Ir Ch Frostisen You Win Again Cen JW Cen W JCh . 3 years old black, feminine head, good shoulder, good tail set stood well fore and aft, all of the plusses of one but did not help her handler on the move and lost as she was not correct coming and going and going round did not stride out. 3 Strong’s Ch Leggatts Dancing Queen at Dracus. 6 years old Good Citizen B 1 Crocker’s Knytshall Noor Ul Ain. 9 years old 2 Guillod, Rees & Guillod-Rees. Draccus Obsidian at Bucamereru. 3 years old Black good head and expression, good shoulder, nice shape. Good tail set. Sound going a little weak in pastern coming. Side movement was OK but veteran put on a show to take the class.
