Results & Critiques

I was really pleased to see some very promising youngsters. The breeds’ future depends on some good young stock coming along. This wasn’t evident last time I judged. I was pleased that in nearly all cases eyes were dark and not protruding. Bites were generally correct however in lots of cases they would have benefited from a clean. In particular the top of the canines. I don’t remember my Buhunds teeth being high maintenance to keep them clean unlike my Japanese Spitz. Movement, as usual, is the one main thing which I think stops the breed attaining top honours I group competition. There were a lot of flat feet. The breed standard calls for “rather small, oval in shape, toes tightly closed”. There weren’t many exhibits where this was the case.

SBD (1) 1 Glibbery’s Rikarlo Grant, very promising 8 months old, good size and outline, correct head proportions which will fill out with maturity. Excellent tailset. Movement needs to tighten and strengthen. MPD (2) 1 Deuchar’s Rikarlo Gable – BEST PUPPY & PUPPY GROUP 4 winner – many congratulations, another lovely puppy. Litter brother to my previous class winner, sired by my Reserve cc winner who seems to have stamped his type. Lovely outline, just enough bend of stifle, good lay of shoulders, level top line. Presented a lovely picture when standing, moved more steadily than 2 and more in tune with his handler. Still needs to strengthen in movement but has a very promising future. 2 Glibbery’s Rikarlo Grant.

PD (2,1a) 1 Deuchar’s Rikarlo Gable.

OD (4) 1 Stonton’s Ch Arnscroft In Di Ana Jack – CC BOB & shortlisted in the group, well done. Very well balanced dog who fulfilled the breed standard for me as a lightly built dog who looked as if he could do a days work. Presented in good hard condition. Good hind movement, excellent tailset, good dark eyes, in lovely coat and condition, excellent ring presence. I judged him as a puppy and thought he was very promising then. He hasn’t disappointed me. He’s kept his light build whereas some become too heavy for me. 2 Cobb & Kent’s Ch Koromandel Best Served Cold At Knytshall – Reserve CC, another very nice dog and sire of my dog puppies. He appears to be passing his qualities onto his offspring. Good depth of chest, excellent dark eyes, well placed ears which he used. Good sound mover. Lovely type unfortunate to meet the winner on such good form. 3 Smith’s Ch Arnscroft Never Say Di.

VD (1) 1 Deuchar’s Ch & Bel Ch Tonylynn’s Charles Lafitte AW(G) RL2ex. 12 years old and thoroughly enjoying his day out. Very good condition for his age, good head proportions, moved well enough just too heavily built for me.

SBB (1) 1 Strong’s Leggatts Dancing Queen – Best Special Beginners Group 4, many congratulations. A beautiful 9 month old black bitch with a stunning outline. She has everything going for her, once her and her handler get in tune with each other when they move. By the time she was in the group she was less exuberant and more settled. Prettiest most feminine head with the darkest of eyes, excellent tailset which she kept up all the time. Lovely neat feet which was so lacking in the majority of exhibits. She has an exciting future ahead. She was a strong contender for the reserve cc if she’d got her act together on the move.

MPB (1) 1 WHD Withheld.

PB (1) 1 Strong’s Leggatts Dancing Queen.

LB (2) 1 Butterworth’s Koromandel Gild The Lily, litter sister to my Reserve dog cc winner and of the same quality just not quite as forward as he is in maturity. This was what she lost out on when coming up against 2nd in open for the reserve cc. Very attractive bitch in excellent coat and condition, handled very well, good top line, neat feet, good lay of shoulder, moved well, will make up easily once mature. 2 Norman, Hussey & Isaacs Arnscroft Delilah At Veekay, pale wheaten with attractive dark markings set off by lovely dark eyes. She’s a shade long in the loin so doesn’t give me the desired outline, good bone, moved well.

OB (5,1a) 1 Garvie’s Ch Rhialis Psyche Sh.CM – BITCH CC, mature bitch shown in good hard condition, lovely outline, good bone, correct length of back, excellent tailset lovely neat feet, moved very well. 2 Cale, & Dobson’s Arnscroft Bibbity Bobity Bu – RESERVE BITCH CC – when I first saw her standing in the ring I thought she would be my winner however her front movement let her down as she’s slightly out at the elbows, although hind movement is good. Having said this she’s very good breed type, head wise she reminded me very much of my Champion Adoram Sadie. She won the reserve cc over the limit winner on her maturity. 3 Cobb & Kent’s Knytshall Angel Delight RL2ex.

VB (1) 1 Cobb & Kent’s Ch Trelowen Veryan To Knytshall RL1, very attractive pale wheaten of 9 years old, good bone, lovely head properties, good lay of shoulder, excellent neat feet, moved very well, lacked in presentation to give her that extra sparkle.
